A right-angle turn.
Every detail defined.

A 90° elbow turns the pipe route through a right angle. Bring the angle, radius and connection details together in one clear enquiry.

90° / DIRECTION CHANGE

The same angle does not mean the same footprint.

The radius and centre-to-end dimensions affect the space occupied by an elbow. Use the approved layout to identify the geometry, rather than substituting one radius for another.

ROUTE

Start with the layout

Identify the line or drawing where the right-angle change occurs.

RADIUS

Keep LR and SR distinct

Long-radius and short-radius configurations should not be treated as dimensionally interchangeable.

ENDS

Specify the connection

Include end size, wall thickness and the applicable weld-end requirements.

REVIEW

Flag any special geometry

Separate drawing-specific dimensions from the standard configuration.

ENQUIRY CHECKLIST

Specify the complete fitting.

These fields describe the requirement. Numerical dimensions must come from the specified standard or approved drawing.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you specify 90° elbows

Can I replace a long-radius elbow with a short-radius elbow?

Not without project review. The geometry and its effect on the system need to be assessed by the responsible engineer.

Does a 90° angle define centre-to-end dimensions?

Not by itself. The radius, size and applicable standard also matter.

Should I state a schedule or a wall thickness?

Use the approved specification. Include the governing dimensional reference when using a schedule designation, and identify any special thickness.

Do the illustrations provide dimensions?

No. The illustrations explain geometry only and are not manufacturing drawings.
