A welded end.
A flexible connection.

Stub ends form part of lap-joint flange connections. Explore the neck and lap details, then specify the material, dimensions and flange arrangement your project requires.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Understand the complete connection

The stub end is one component in a flange assembly. Confirm its fit with the backing flange, gasket and adjoining piping.

01 / PIPE CONNECTION

The welded neck

The tubular end is welded to the pipe. Specify the pipe dimensions, wall thickness and end preparation required by the project.

  • Identify the nominal size and connecting pipe dimensions.
  • State the required wall thickness or schedule.
  • Confirm neck length and available welding clearance.
02 / FLANGE CONNECTION

The lap and sealing face

The lap provides the face used in the joint, while the backing flange provides the bolted connection. Their mating geometry must be compatible.

  • Identify the specified flange arrangement.
  • Confirm lap dimensions and the mating radius.
  • State face finish and gasket requirements where specified.

Specify whether your enquiry is for stub ends only or a complete assembly. A stub end enquiry does not by itself define the backing flange, gasket or bolting supply.

LENGTH & CONFIGURATION

Define the profile your layout needs

Use the applicable standard or approved drawing to identify the exact configuration.

NECK LENGTH

Short or long pattern

State the required pattern and overall length. Installation space, welding access and the project specification determine which dimensions are required.

MATING GEOMETRY

Lap and flange compatibility

Include the stub end type where specified, lap diameter, thickness and radius requirements. Provide the mating flange details for review.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you specify a stub end

What is a stub end used for?

A stub end is used as part of a lap-joint flange arrangement. Its neck joins to the pipe, and its lap works with the backing flange and the mating joint components.

Is the backing flange included with the stub end?

State the supply scope in your enquiry. If the backing flange, gasket or bolting is required, specify those components separately so the quotation can identify what is included.

What is the difference between short and long patterns?

The patterns differ in length. Specify the required pattern and dimensions according to the applicable standard or approved drawing, including the space needed for installation and welding.

Can I select a stub end by nominal pipe size alone?

No. Include wall thickness, material, length, lap geometry and the mating flange details. Those requirements need to be reviewed together for the intended assembly.
